Fantasy Player Watch Oct 10th…
This is no surprise, but expect a huge game from Alexander Ovechkin tonight against the Thrashers. Count on him tallying 8-10 SOG and scoring 1G and 1A tonight. Not to be outdone, look for Ilya Kovalchuk to come out firing on newly acquired Jose Theodore as he looks to revive his stagnate goaltending career. This game has the potential to be a old-fashioned western shootout, minus the cowboys and fire arms. I shouldn’t have to explain the metaphor…you get the picture. The Thrashers D looks bad once again and it’s going to be a field day for Ovechkin, Semin, Green and Backstrom. Washington takes the game in a 5-2 victory. Go with the over here…
Others to watch tonight: Include Rick Nash who will tally a PPP and have 5-7 SOG. Martin Brodeur who will more than likely put up a 2.00 or less GAA tonight against a lackluster Islanders offense. Look for both Joe Corvo and Joni Pitkanen to contribute to the Hurricane PP tonight, each with an assist and 3-4 SOG.
UPDATE 7:53 PM: As expected, the Thrashers and Caps game was a scorcher. Ovechkin did not make the score sheet and ruined my prediction. In fact, Ovechkin is the only one that didn’t produce, Green, Semin and Backstrom all had good games. Also, Brodeur did exactly as predicted and was impressive in a 2-1 game tonight.
